I come home from work, she says “Honey, you know the sink’s still leaking”
By the time I’ve figured it out, don’t you know she’s already sleeping
I slide quietly into bed, and I kiss her gently on the cheek
There once was a time when we did more than that between those sheets

But the kids have got an early bus
And I’ve got to get myself out to the office

Looks like the honeymoon is over, even though we’ve just begun
Yeah, the honeymoon is over but we’re still having too much fun
There’s a whole lot to be done when you’re a family on the run
Yeah, the honeymoon may be over but the best is yet to come

“Can you pick up our son from soccer”, I hear her tell me on the telephone
“I’ll leave dinner in the fridge for you and him when you both get back home
I’ve got a meeting with the HOA and then I’ve gotta stop by my mother’s”
Yeah, there once was a time when we were always seen with each other

But nothing lasts forever
I guess everything changes for the better
