about

A "classic" Patrick Fleming tune that never made on a CD - until now, albeit in it's demo form.

Written with a nod to The Refreshments/Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers from Arizona, this "story" was fiction - until I experienced it first hand!

Many great times playing this song live in New Jersey with help from the likes of Will O'Connor, Michelle Preisler McComber, Charlie Brick, Mike Hoffman...

A nod to Will O'Connor for the vocally-inspired trumpets and Mike Hoffman who lent some great country-rock guitar licks to this recorded version.

MEXICO

It’s time for me to leave this place and go far away
Too many women and too many beers have caught me after all these years
And the talk that’s going around
Makes me think I’d be better off out of town

I think I’ll go to Mexico
I’ll learn to drink tequila and wear a sombrero, oh
In Mexico it’s never cold and I can sleep all day I’m told

I kinda liked the way they always say “Si, senor”
But I never liked the fact that I couldn’t understand a single word they’d say
But it’s just a matter of time
Una cerveza then it’s siesta time

I think I’ll go to Mexico
I’ll learn to drink tequila and wear a sombrero, oh
In Mexico it’s never cold and I can sleep all day I’m told

And the talk that’s going around
Makes me think I’d be better off out of town

I think I’ll go to Mexico
Get drunk on tequila and wear a sombrero, oh
In Mexico it’s never cold and I can sleep all day I’m told

I never quite liked the way they always say “Hey gringo”
And I never liked the fact that they couldn’t understand a goddamn word I’d say
But it all will come to pass
My senorita bonita will be my last

I think I’ll go to Mexico
Black out on tequila and wear a sombrero, oh
In Mexico it’s never cold and I can sleep all day I’m told
Oh, that’s where I’m gonna go
There’s lots of gold, I’m told, way down in Mexico
